Jessica Miller-Merrell to speak at August 12th meeting
Bartlesville Marketing and Communications Association will meet next Thursday, August 12th from 11:30-1:00 in the Osage Room at Tri County Tech*.
The guest speaker will be Jessica Miller-Merrell and her topic will be, "SOCIAL MEDIA IS THE NEW COLD CALL." Merrell, SPHR known as @blogging4jobs, is an author, speaker, new mother, and human resources professional with a passion for recruiting, training, and all things social media. Jessica is a leader in the HR social media community and has over 10 years of experience in human resources and recruiting. Her book, Tweet This! Twitter for Business was released in February of this year. Her company, Xceptional HR provides businesses with social media, recruitment strategies, and human resources consulting. Jessica received her Senior Professional in Human Resource designation in 2008. Jessica also holds a Bachelors degree in Anthropology and Business from Kansas State University . Jessica has been quoted in publications as an expert including Glamour Magazine, Entrepreneur, and Employment Digest. Mike Koehler to Speak at May 13th Meeting
The Bartlesville Marketing and Communications Association and the Bartlesville Area Human Resources Assoc will meet together next Thursday, May 13 from 11:30-1:00 in the Cherokee Meeting Room*.
The guest speaker will be Mike Koehler of Schnake Turnbo and Frank. Koehler will be speaking on Social Media Policies for Businesses. Koehler has a vast knowledge of different social media outlets, including social networking sites and blogs. He has over 2,400 followers on Twitter and consistently ranks among the top 20 in Oklahoma City for the most followers. Koehler brings over 15 years of journalism experience to Schnake Turnbo Frank | PR. He joined the firm in 2009 as new media director. Scott Townsend to Speak at April 8th Meeting
The Bartlesville Marketing & Communications Association will meet on Thursday, April 8th from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Tri County Technology Center in the Osage Annex meeting room.
The guest speaker will be Scott Townsend, Marketing Director for United Linen & Uniform Services. Townsend will be speaking on "Punch Cards Are So 2009: Using Foursquare to Increase Loyalty, Buzz, Traffic and Sales".
Geo-location applications like Foursquare and Gowalla (to name a few) are turning peoples' social lives into a game. By checking-in to a business or venue through their mobile phone, users can see where their friends are, be rewarded for return visits, gain points, badges and virtual rewards. More importantly, businesses can now offer scavenger hunts for their customers, gain free publicity, create events and reward participants, create competition between frequent shoppers as well as send out tips, coupons and offers, all through your customer's mobile phone. Businesses that will benefit from this presentation are retail, restaurants, tourism and non-profits.

Patrick Allmond will be speaking to the Bartlesville Marketing & Communications Assoc on the subject, "Online Video: Making Great Impressions Without Breaking the Bank".
Patrick Allmond is the owner of Focus Consulting, a technology consulting company that just completed its 11th year in business. He spends his days working with companies discovering the best ways to take advantage of internet technology to drive business goals and engage customers. When he is not building software to make clients lives easier he is teaching Social Media classes and helping companies build their new media strategies. Mary Beth Babcock to Speak at Oct 8th Meeting
The Bartlesville Marketing and Communications Association will meet this Thursday, October 8th at Tri Country Technology Center in the Osage Room from 11:30-1:00.
The speaker will be Mary Beth Babcock, owner of Dwelling Spaces in Tulsa, OK. Mary is one of the most engaging and dynamic speakers I have seen in a long time. She was a panelist at the #okiesmart conference in Tulsa few months ago and after I heard her speak, I instantly knew she would be a great person to have at one of our BMCA meetings. She will be speaking on small business retail marketing. Locals in downtown Tulsa know Mary Beth for her one-of-a-kind shops where she offers the unique, the off beat and the totally Tulsa products. Mary Beth successfully engages customers through an active Facebook fan site and Twitter.
